I met Gussie Klorer for the first time when she agreed to meet me at her studio for this project, “It Was The Only Book She Ever Ate”. I researched her quite a bit and saw that another newsworthy piece had already been done about her. I was not surprised but knew I needed to take a fresh approach to highlighting her. I read that she holds an esteemed faculty position at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville as an Art Therapist. And, I had to ask myself, what does art therapy mean to me, and how can I capture the essence of that. Gussie is one of those special people; in her presence you feel alive. I felt an immediate connection to her as an artist and appreciated that her artistic expression is all around her studio. It is in a very small space with its own rich history, and there we were, together to make this story.
I hope you appreciate the video and take more time looking into who she is as an art therapist. You can find more about her
